Awareness with Guided Application

Course Description

Introducing students to foundational cyber safety principles, with a focus on personal information and responsible digital decision-making. 


Core Concepts 


  1. CIA Triad: Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability
  2. Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  3. Digital Citizenship.


Learning Outcomes


  1. Recognise and describe personal information (PII) in age-appropriate terms, to analyse information and classify the data according to risk level. 
  2. Apply the CIA model to evaluate real-world information-sharing scenarios, and identify when it is safe, and not safe, to share personal information
  3. Identify information that is not or was not true at a point in time, and explain the consequences (good or bad), of the integrity of that data.
  4. Identify a past or future situation where it would be important to access personal information, and what might be the consequences of of the data being unavailable.


Examples of Mastery 


  1. Accurately distinguishes between personal information (PII) and non-sensitive information in a real-world situation and can explain the reasoning behind the decision making
  2. Applies judgement when presented with situations that require information sharing and can explain both when and why that information should or should not be shared
  3. Identifies examples of information being altered or misrepresented and can articulate why accuracy matters
  4. Explains situations where authorised access to information is necessary and can articulate the risks of unauthorised access
